wellington arch

This is on top of Wellington Arch which stands in the middle of the huge Hyde Park Corner roundabout. Apparently this was once the most dangerous roundabout in the world (said Owen) but I will always remember it for very randomly meeting a friend from Germany when crossing over at the traffic lights coming from Green Park.

slides @ tate modern

Well, it obviously was on level seven, and it was in the Tate Modern. My hint gave it away i suspect. The Tate is also where these slides where. The highest one starts at level five only, but it's great fun anyway. To slide you had to queue at a ticket office for a while, get a timed but free ticket and then queued at the slides again - but that is London.

heat wave

London had a bit a heat wave last week hitting 26 Celsius, and it is still continuing but slowly fading out. And where could you enjoy the sun better than in Hyde Park?

british museum

After living in London for three years I thought it was about time to go to the British Museum for the first time. The architecture (or should I say engineering?) of the roof is really amazing and so are the exhibitions. Being a bit of a geek in Roman and Ancient Greek history I headed for "Greece and Rome". What I don't quite understand why the Ancient Near East is in the West though...

oh - part three in a series of three

And today the final episode of "smilies on the pavement", kindly brought to you by an unknown stranger in a random place. I think it was Montague Close. I shall not forget to remind you of the rubber eraser day which takes place today.

The last week I have been in sunny south Germany but posting London pictures continued magically. Tomorrow night Ryanair is going to get me back into Stansted. With a guest. Now I do something strange: Even though I am the London blogger and (most of) you aren't, I ask you whether you have any recommendations of where to go with a 13 year old tourist. On the list so far: Madam Toussaud's (never been there!), London Dungeon and a boat trip down to Greenwich. Anything else important?

skate park & london eye

I promised a while ago to not put pictures of the London Eye on here any more. That's over now. Here we go: Place for little kids to fall on their noses right next to London Eye.
Skatebahn direkt neben London Eye.

good bye london, will be back soon

When I took this picture, I also took this. So that's an English plastic recyclable milk bottle.
I will be away from the greatest city in the world for a few days, I'll probably keep putting pictures on. That will be a good chance to recycle random ones like today's.

nightline

I postet a very similar view a view weeks ago. In fact it was taken from the same place at the same time but this time it is the real skyline at night.

theme day: post box

There we go, the actual photo. Nothing special at all because I couldn't come up with anything special. There is different types of post boxes around in London, I think that is one of the older examples. Then there is the ones with a slot for First Class and one for Second Class but they have been scrapped about a year ago I think. And Ham (my fellow London Daily Photo Blogger) took a photo of exactly the same style of box. But it's in a different place.

PHOTO COMING SOON
Alright. I messed that one up completely. First, I signed up for the theme day too late so that most people wont include me in their links. And now I only shot the photo today and it's on my camera but my cable is at home and I'm still in uni and don't know whether I make it home before midnight. But the photo will come, watch this space ;)
